Hurleston Reservoir
Hurlestone reservoir is a pleasant 21 acre water body, holding 85 million gallons, is constantly fed by the Llangollen Canal, bringing South Cheshire’s water supply from the River Dee at Horseshoe Falls, Llantysilio.
The reservoir, set on the outskirts of Nantwich, has everything to offer the all year round angler, from summer bags of roach and double-figure bream, to winter fishing for some of the lake’s huge pike.
Hurleston can at times be a difficult water to fish, but the rewards are endless. Carp to 33lb in the summer months and pike to 28lb during winter have been recorded. Large eels also have been caught here. This is a deep water, and tactics are important, so plan carefully, and hopefully you will be rewarded.
The banks are fairly steep in some places, and care should also be taken as many of the stages require some attention, although these factors in no way prevent an enjoyable day’s fishing.
Please take care not to disturb nesting birds, particularly in the wooded area, which is cared for by Nantwich Wildlife Group. There is a no fishing policy in front of the bird hide.
Access
Sat-nav CW5 6BU. Park in the lay-by on left near Blackberry Farm, just past Car Transplants (travelling towards Chester). From the lay-by, walk down the steps to the canal, turn right, and proceed along the towpath to a small footbridge by the lock-keeper’s cottage. Cross the canal, turn left, and then approach the reservoir over a stile on your right.

The parking area is used by the public, so do not leave any valuables on show. Unfortunately, no disabled access at present.

Please Note
Fishing rights for a section of the bank at the northern corner (either side of the boat house) are retained by Peckforton Estate. This short length is marked by two white poles.
Rules
No night fishing - dawn until dusk only. Unhooking mats and landing nets must be used. There is NO close season.
